Healthy Weight Gaining Foods | Blog 2 |

Now for my vegan friends, gaining a lil more muscle mass and healthy weight isn't a concern. Also for those who don't prefer to eat non-veg on a regular basis needn't worry. Veggies fruits and nuts work their magic just the way meat and dairy does.

  • NUTS

Nuts are enriched with abundant key proteins and nutrients, good fats, antioxidants, aid in the reduction of cholesterol and help you live longer. Each of these nuts has its own boons and perks.

Almond: These are high in fiber, vitamin E and magnesium. Almonds help in reducing the risk of heart diseases and lower the chances of diabetes. Concerning hair, almonds prevent dandruff anhair damage, providing sufficient nutrition to the hair follicles that make the hair strands stronger, which is why almond is used by many hair oil brands. Regarding eyes, regularly eating almonds will reduce age-related macular degenerations and cataract in the long run.

Cashew Nuts: Highly rich in iron, calcium, magnesium and unsaturated fats. Alongside, cashews help prevent cancer and other benefits for bones and teeth. Cashew milk is non-dairy milk, which means it contains no lactose. In its most basic form, it's made from filtered water and cashews.

Walnut: Walnut that is shaped like the human brain is beneficial for brain and heart, reducing the risk of depression and all age-related diseases.

Peanuts: The cheapest and most commonly found peanuts are high in folates that are important for brain development. Peanuts help in healthy pregnancy and reduce the chances of birth defects. Peanuts can be consumed raw or can be slightly sauteed or even made as peanut butter at home, which will be far more healthier and quicker.

Hazelnuts: Every Chcoclate lover must love hazelnut. Hazelnuts have a copious amount of unsaturated fats, magnesium, calcium, vitamin B and E. Substantially, hazelnuts are good for the digestive health along with bones, teeth, muscles, and heart.

  • FRUITS

You must have heard of the words bookoholic, chocoholic, and alcoholic, but have you heard of fruitaholic? Yes! A person with obsessive craze and crave for fruits is a fruitaholic. Nevertheless, fruit obsession, in my opinion, to an extent, is good and healthy idee fixe.

Nature has stocked fruits with an ample amount of vitamins, antioxidants, and other essential nutrients. Most fruits contain vitamins and minerals such as calcium, potassium, and folate (folic acid) but none contain cholesterol. In fact, fruits help in reducing bad cholesterol and maintaining blood pressure level.

Fruits can be consumed anytime, there's no specific timing and schedule as such but it is best to be consumed in the morning. However, for those who are aspiring for weight loss, excessive consumption of fruits will eventually lead to weight gain since many fruits contain high levels of sugar and protein which will add to weight increment.

Below is a list of all the fruits with their nutritional information and caloric value.

  • VEGETABLES
Vegetables go along with meat and poultry, be it a steak or grilled turkey. Everyone loves to adorn their dishes and tables with colorful veggies as salads and more.

There are basically 6-8 types of classification under vegetables.

  • Leafy green – lettuce, spinach, coriander, and mint.
  • Cruciferous – cabbage, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, and broccoli.
  • Marrow – pumpkin, cucumber, and zucchini.
  • Root – potato, sweet potato, and yam.
  • Edible plant stem – celery and asparagus.
  • Allium – onion, garlic, and shallot.

  • A simple way to know which vegetable has less weight gaining properties is, if the vegetable has more water content then it will contain fewer calories. For example, cucumber is consumed for those pursuing to lose weight since cucumber holds around 95% of the water in it. Howbeit, potatoes, and corn are very high in calories and starch.
