No Chinese Food Outlets Nearby? Let's Prepare Honey Sesame Chicken

Sat at my laptop for a while just thinking of a better title to go for this amazing recipe blog. Finally settled on writing the above one. Because what else would you do if you are craving Chinese/Thai food and you don't find one nearby? That's right! You'll prepare it in your kitchen. And once you taste what you've prepared with your own hands, you'll never again think of ordering from outside.

I'd call this recipe simple and easy for two reasons basically. 1. because all the ingredients that go into it are nothing unique, it's everything that you can find in your cabinet, and 2. the procedure is pretty simple and just like any other Chinese/Thai gravies or starters.

Grab your apron, and let's head to the kitchen.

Ingredients

➤Boneless Chicken- 500gms, diced

For the coating

➤Soy sauce- 2 tbsp

➤Salt/Peper- a large pinch each

➤Ginger paste- 1tsp

➤Sesame oil- 1tbsp

➤Cornstarch- 4tbsp

For the gravy

➤Sesame oil- 4 tbsp

➤Ginger- a thumb-size, julienne cut

➤Garlic- 1 tsp, chopped

➤Tomato ketchup- 5tbsp

➤Soy sauce- 2tbsp

➤Vinegar- 1tsp

➤Honey- 2tbsp

➤Water- 1/2 cup

➤Asafoetida- a large pinch

➤Sesame seeds- 1tsp

1. In a large bowl, add the chicken pieces, soy sauce, salt/pepper, ginger paste, and sesame oil and mix well. In another bowl, add cornstarch.

2. In a wok, heat oil for frying. when the oil is hot enough, dip the chicken dices in cornstarch until it is well coated then drop them in the hot oil one by one. Fry until they are golden-brown, strain, and set it on a paper towel.

3. Now in another wok, heat sesame oil then add ginger and garlic. Wait for a few minutes and then add ketchup, soy sauce, vinegar, and honey. Stir for a few minutes then add some water. Add a lil asafoetida (which is optional) for enriching the taste. Stir and switch off the flame.

4. Add the fried chicken pieces and sesame seeds then TOSS like a BOSS or I mean you know, a professional chef until all the pieces are well coated with the gravy. Be careful! don't make your kitchen a mess. Sprinkle some more sesame seeds before serving it hot.
